Her name is Mizuno Ami (Amy Anderson in the North American version), meaning 'Asian Beauty of Water'.  Her mother star is Mercury.

Her secret identity is Sailor Mercury.  In her previous life she was a member of princess Serenity's court as well as princess of Mercury, ruler of a castle named Marina.  She is the strategic advisor for the senshi team.

Her powers deal with ice and water.

Her strengths are intelligence, strategy, and kindness.

Ami is a very kind hearted and intelligent person.  Both of these characteristics are reflected in her desire to become a doctor.  Ami's mom is a doctor, and her dad, who is usually off traveling, is an artist who sends her drawings now and then.  Ami is an overall happy person that is so mild-mannered and soft spoken that it is a shock to see her upset at anyone.  She is a fantastic swimmer who can beat anyone in a race (Except Michiru, who she ties).   Ami loves to study.  No surprise that her favorite food is sandwiches that she can eat while reading.  She is at the top of her class, scoring perfect on all her exams.  This sometimes breeds jealousy and resentment from some of the other students.  Ami has two fears that I have seen. One is a fear of rejection, and isolation due to her extreme intelligence, and the other is a fear of love letters.  She is uncomfortable with the ways of romance.  Ami is very prim and proper, and is easily embarrassed by bad manners or a man's advances.  Ami is willing to sacrifice a lot to help others.  This is true in two arenas.  In school, she takes time out to tutor poor students (Such as Usagi and Minako) and help them through school.  As Sailor Mercury, she will go the extra distance to understand the enemy, and has compassion for them (much like Usagi does).  Two examples of this are Beruche and Vilyui.  Ami also has strong resolve when she needs to.  For example, the time when she fought the evil prince Endymion by herself in order to save the people trapped in nijizuishou.  She was able to defeat him by strategy and determination.  As Sailor Mercury, she is one of the weakest soldiers physically, and her attacks are more defensive than offensive, but Mercury uses strategy rather than strength when fighting.  She is an asset to the senshi team when they need locations found, or enemies analyzed for weaknesses.  She even has her own mini computer and special goggles to aide her in doing what she does best.  Luna seems to have a unique attachment to Ami that is over and above that of the other senshi (except Usagi of course) and a little bit different from her attachment to Usagi.  Ami is not intimidated easily, and is happy to just do her best.  Overall, Ami's character can be summed up by her sweetness and studiousness.
